Artist Statement Christopher Jackson
Offering a wide range of subject matter, Christopher Jackson’s art is not limited to any particular genre of painting. Working primarily in pastel, his paintings speak with a strong confident voice. Solid compositions, rich saturated colors and dramatic lighting are typical of Jackson’s paintings.
His technique of applying pastel pigment creates visual impact that makes his work recognizable as his own. The subject becomes secondary to the application of the medium. By striving to keep the composition simple, color harmony and the ability to paint the suggestion of light becomes his primary tool to evoke emotion and create mood, happiness, solitude, calm…
After nineteen years in the graphic arts trade, Jackson emerged with a firm foundation of design and color theory. With numerous solo and group shows to his credit, including a sold out show to one collector, his art is collected from New York to California. Jackson is currently a full-time artist residing in Kansas City, Missouri.
