First and foremost, I think art should speak for itself. I am not a believer in lengthy descriptions about artwork or the creative process. The viewer should be able to draw their own conclusions from the visual power of the piece. That having been said, I humbly submit my personal artist statement for your reading pleasure. Wordplay, visual pun, metaphor and whimsy are all important elements in my work. I want my paintings to offer the viewer a respite from the serious times that we live in. With my tongue firmly planted in my check, I try to paint ordinary objects and subject matter in an extraordinary way. Through close observation to detail and meticulous refinement of my paintings, I hope my work will draw the viewer in for a closer look and make them ask, ”How did he do that?” as opposed to, “My dog could do that!”
